2014 Memorial Day Buttermilk French Toast
Ingredients
- 16 slices Texas toast thick bread (1 loaf)
- 6 eggs
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon butter, to grease pan
- 1 tablespoon butter, to grease pan
Instructions
- Whisk all ingredients.
- Over medium heat, lightly grease pan or griddle with 1 tablespoon butter or less.
- Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, flip to coat each side. Do this quickly, so as not to completely soak the bread.
- Place on pan over medium heat for approx 2-3 min per side. Flip to repeat on reverse side.
- Slice on a diagonal and serve with powdered sugar or syrup.
