Breakfast Pie
Ingredients
- 12 Kings Hawaiian Rolls (Original)
- 1.5 stick Unsalted butter
- 1 pound Sage sausage Jimmy Dean preferably
- 9 Large eggs
- 2 cups Heavy whipping cream
- 2 Greek Yogurt Cups (optional) Chobani preferrably, individual portion size
- 1 tablespoon Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 tablespoon Sage
- 2 cups Sharp Cheddar cheese shredded
- 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese shredded
- 1 carton Strawberries
Instructions
- Set out a large glass baking dish, should be approximately 5 courts and 3“ deep. Tear rolls into small pieces into stainless or glass bowl, set aside. Melt butter and pour into your glass baking dish. Cook the sausage, breaking up into small pieces while cooking. Drain the sausage and pat with paper towels to soak up any extra grease. Break eggs into a bowl and add heavy wipping cream, (optionally) yogurt, sugar, and salt. Whisk well until eggs are very blended with cream and yogurt. Spread the roll pieces evenly into the glass baking dish on top of the butter. Add the sausage evenly over the bread, spread 1 tablespoon of sage over the sausage. Add the egg mixture. Spread the cheddar and mozzarella evenly over the pie. Gently press the pie with your hand to even out. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and let sit in refrigerator over night.
- Remove from fridge and let stand 15-20 minutes while preheating oven to 350 degrees. Remove plastic and bake for 45 - 70 minutes until golden brown around the sides and on top. While pie bakes, wash and set strawberries aside so they can reach room temperature.
- Serve with strawberries and extra cheddar cheese as desired.
